Well now normal blogging resumes I'll jump right in with one of my NYC purchases from Sephora - it's their Precision Sponge. Very similar to the 'Beauty Blender' (see HERE for a tutorial), it's highly valued by make-up artists for it's easy, streak free application of foundation and concealer.
I know the Beauty Blender branded one can cost around £14.50 ($19.95) so when I saw the Sephora own brand for $12 (roughly £7.50), even though they are made from different materials, they both do a similar job so I would be stupid not to pick one up:
Sephora Precision Sponge - $12. |
This is the foundation I use, as you can see it's well loved. It last ages I think I've had this for about 3/4 months now and you can see how much is left. It goes on light and lasts for ages. |
First of all your supposed to wet the sponge, dry it out til its only damp and then dip into your foundation. You then dab in a fast motion all over your face, dipping back in if needs-be. |
After: You can see you get a very even coverage with no streaks! Please excuse the bags under my eyes - I'm still wildly jet-lagged. |
This sponge is great, it's so fast and easy to use. At first I thought it used up too much foundation, however after looking at a tutorial and trying to 'wet it first' trick, it uses less than it did before as the sponge has already soaked up water.
I'd love to see somebody else's review of the 'Beauty Blender' to compare them so if you have one link it in the comments.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
x

You look lovely without make-up! Oooh, you look flawless. That sponge certainly seems worth it (: I need a new make-up routine.
ReplyDeleteThink I might have to get myself one, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOooh I have been wanting to try one of these. When I started out in makeup I did like using sponge to apply foundation but now I would always only ever use a brush, so it would be interesting to see how this compares. Looks like a good result to me!
ReplyDeleteI would really like to try one of these! I like my brush but it makes my foundation streaky if you dont wash it every single day. I didnt think tools like this had to be washed after every makeup application!? hmm! Loved catching up on your new york posts missus, Il need to pester you for advice soon, was thinking of planning a trip there in sept with the mr.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing more of your new nyc bought makeup?! :) and thank you for the supportive comment on my last post, love you long time and your kind words mean the world to me lady! xx
your skin looks flawless, may have to purchase one of these :)

ohmygod woman look how good your skin is before foundation!
ReplyDeleteI have a beauty blender & I stopped using it because it soaked up too much foundation even when I DID do the water thing. I might fish it out & try it again. x
I have been thinking about getting a foundation brush, but after seeing this I might rethink!
ReplyDeleteGreat coverage! I used to use a brush but I hate those streaks you'd get sometimes. I think you get a better coverage with a sponge although some people think it's unhygienic and they absorb too much make up.
ReplyDeleteCosmopolitan (as in the magazine) also make a sponge simliar to this one as part of their make up brushes etc range. I got one from Superdrug for £4.99 and I love it. It's much faster and easier to use than a brush.
ReplyDeleteive always wondered if that sponge worked! looks great! all i want though, is a good tinted moisturizer! any suggestions?
