Cath Kidston - Not All Just Florals - Mushrooms and Aliens Too!

See I'm not normally a fan of the whole floraly side of Cath Kidston, I think its over done and just a little too sickly sweet for me but since I "borrowed" (also see: Stole) my old housemates Cowboy mug I've looked at the other designs and fallen head over heels!

Here are some of the other designs I adore:

Mushroom Dress - £65
I have never been more in love with a dress! It's so pretty!!
Sadly the website is sold out :(
Mushroom Cup & Saucer - £10
So cute! I love drinking from my teapot and don't have a cup & saucer yet!
Kids Mushroom and Daisies Sweatshirt - £22
I'm so sad this is for little kids, it's beautiful :(
Mushroom Pocket Cardigan - £80
Pricey BUT look how awesome!!

Now moving away from the Mushrooms:

Space PJ Bottoms - £25
Um hey I need you. They look so snuggly!
Cowboy Double Duvet - £55
This is the most perfect, most wonderful duvet set I have ever laid eyes on. Cacti and Cowboys - I'm in love!

Are you a Cath Kidston fan? I feel super lucky that we have a store here in Cardiff that I will totally be hitting up!

Garden Tour.

Howdy!

Today I thought I'd show you around my garden as you may have caught the sneak peak in my last outfit post :)

I really love our garden, there is SO much wildlife about! I used to be deathly afraid of spiders and bugs but I really don't know what has happened but I am actually embracing the amount of creepy crawlies that are living in our garden! I've also found 2 toads and got to pick one of them up. There are lots of cats, a dog that lives above us who plays outside and also squirrels!

Prince isn't allowed out without his harness for the first 2 weeks, ALL the cats keeps coming to the window to suss him out and he's going crazy!
We have 2 benches, a BBQ, washing line and a greenhouse! Plus 2 planters and 2 big spaces to grow flowers.
This leads down to the people above us' garden.
There is a tree fulled of pink and purple flowers that Bee's LOVE! They get super full and fall on the floor where they act all drowsy for a while then fly off :D

So that is out garden! I can't wait to share the rest of the house with you but it's taking longer than expected to find a home for everything we own! We are in desperate need of a tall (rather than wide) bookshelf but can't afford/find one that isn't one of those IKEA Billy ones :/ - do you have any ideas?

Hope you had a great 3-day weekend! I spent mine with friends and just chilling out on the sofa while Ross made us a roast dinner :D

Unicorn Hairstyling with GHD

I was recently challenged to see if I could produce my own summer up-do hairstyle using some awesome ghd products.

Here is what I received:

ghd Style & Protect Set - PR Sample
Contains: ghd Brush, Style & Smooth spray, styling clips and Final Shine spray.
I work around food and drink so i have to keep my hair up most of the day anyway so I was excited to try out something a little different that I could still get away wit hat work. I am SO bad at styling my own hair, there is something about mirrors and the backwardness of it all that makes me totally cross-eyed!
Anyway, I have lilac and pastel pink hair right now so in keeping with the unicorn theme this is what I decided to do:

The brush is amazing for getting through my hair.
Pre-blow dry. Post Shine and Smooth Spray.
SUPER added shine with Final Shine spray.

I literally love plaiting my hair at the moment, waking up with it super frizzy makes me look like Jessie Spano - love it!

What is your favourite Summer up-do?

My Cactus Collection.

I have internet! Woohoo! It was a long old weekend without it :p

I thought today, seeing as my whole life is still in boxes/between houses (today I had to walk to work in an oversized cardigan and leggings as I left all my clothes in the old house :'( ) I would share with you one of the loves in my life - my Cactus/Cacti collection!

I love them! They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes - I even have a tattoo of a Catctus on my leg (you can see it at the bottom of the post or HERE) I've been learning alot about them and how to take care of them and what the different types are called. I found an awesome book on them in a charity shop which has been really useful.

 So, here they are:

When this one bloomed I almost wept with joy!
I stuck a birds skull that I had cleaned up in this one to give it that old desert feel.

Heres my a picture of my tattoo from right when I had it done, the colour has come out alot better since it's healed:

And for added house-plant greatness - my Venus Flytrap!

Do you like plants? What if your favourite type?

Guest Post: The Perfect Transition.

Hello!

Today I have a guest post as I'm waiting on the internet to transfer to my new flat. It's from Lucinda Bounsall who is a fashion writer Farfetch. It's all about the awkward between-season where it's still a bit warm but it's raining and windy - i.e NOW!

Anyway here it is, hope you enjoy:

As fall approaches we take a look at some essential items that will help you transition between the
seasons with perfection.

We’re around the one week mark into August and I’m not going to lie; I think we’ve seen
the best of what the British summer has to offer us. I mean, not that I’m complaining, two
consecutive weeks of the mercury hitting the high twenties is actually the best summer that I
can remember having on this fair isle.

I might be speaking too soon, I hope that we get at least a little bit more sunshine in before
the long months of winter envelop us in their bosom. I have been working on a tan that has
probably reached what is known as Caramel Latte on the Dulux colour scale and I reckon
with another week of sun I might be able to reach the heady heights of Cookie Dough.

But in the meantime as the weather is warm but the sky remains somewhat overcast my
attention has been turned towards my new season wardrobe. One thing that I always have
trouble with is navigating the difficult waters of in-between-seasons dressing.

I always seem to have a plethora of chunky knits, skinny jeans and sumptuous winter coats
or at the other end of the wardrobe spectrum; summer dresses, sandals and shorts – not
exactly ideal for those days when the weather can’t make up its mind.

So I’ve done a little research and come up with a couple of items that will fit into your
wardrobe perfectly and help take your current clothes from seasonal staples to all-yearround essentials.

There’s no need to break the bank; you can invest in the things you like but there are always
slightly more budget friendly high street counterparts. The best thing about items that
transcend the seasons means that you will get the maximum amount of wear out of them, so
really you’ll be saving money in the long run. Well at least, that’s what I’m telling myself!

    1. Woven Panel Cami - £15 – A black camisole top is an ideal item for any season, it will go
with almost anything in your wardrobe and is easily dressed up or down for any occasion, wear on its own during the day and throw on a cardi or leather jacket for when it gets a little cooler in the evening.
    2. Calsta Jacquard Blazer - £125 / shorts - £60 – One of my favourite trends that has come out of this season, championed by Alexa Chung, is the matching blazer and shorts combo. This brilliant jacquard two-piece is dreamy worn with a wide brimmed hat and a light shirt. The best thing about these babies is that all you need is a thick pair of tights and you’ve got yourself a super stylish winter ensemble in an instant.
    3. American Vintage Ocean City Cardigan (with sheer sleeves) - £99 –This cardigan must have been designed with transitional wear in mind. It’s chunky knit will keep you warm but the sheer sleeves not only add a sleek sophistication to your knitwear collection but will ensure that you stay perfectly cool whatever the weather.
    4. Cashair Circular Scarf - £126 – A scarf shouldn’t be confined to the remits of your winter wardrobe. A bright scarf will work wonders in cool summer evenings and add a pop of colour into an otherwise more muted winter palate.
    5. Moss Distressed Boyfriend Jeans – £205 – Boyfriend jeans have been on our radar for a while now and they’re swiftly becoming one of those go-to items that solve any sartorial problem. Wear yours with chunky ankle boots in the winter or sandals in the summer.
    6. Argo Heavy Strap Boots - £92 – A stylish ankle boot is an absolute must have, they’re the perfect option for almost any weather condition, although we’re thinking they might be a little heavy duty for the desert. Wear an ankle boot to toughen up a feminine summer dress or with skinny jeans and a leather jacket when the temperature drops. These cool Topshop boots are a great between-seasons colour as they’re not too dark or too light.
    7. Signature Shirt in Magenta - £225 – The perfect silk shirt is a true investment item to any wardrobe, you don’t necessarily have to splurge £225 on an Equipment one but it’s definitely worth it to spend a little more than you would normally as silk shirts go with anything and will never go out of style.
    8. 90 Denier Tights - £12 – It might seem a little obvious to tell you that tights are a must have transitional item but you can never under-estimate the power of the pantyhose! Make sure you stockpile on relatively cheap tights for everyday occasions and spend a little more on some more hardy ones that will last the season.  As the summer draws to a close a good tip is to keep a new pair of tights in your bag on the off-chance that after work drinks goes on late and you get a little nippy!
    9. Sara Berman Leather Pencil Skirt – £175 – Leather is going to be huge for next season so make sure you buy early on and make the most of it. A sultry leather skirt looks effortlessly cool with a baggy marl tee and a pair of heeled boots. As it gets colder a leather skirt is the perfect option to keep you warm and stylish and you won’t have to go out and buy anything else!

So whilst we aren’t exactly wishing away the sun at least at the end of the day we have something to look forward to, including how to rework your summer style into the perfect winter warmers.
What are you looking forward to wearing next season?

Happy 1st Birthday Prince!

I got Prince in October last year, he was 8 weeks old and in a tiny pet shop down the road from me, owned by an old lady, sat in a teeny cage with 2 other kitties. The other two kittens were fast asleep but as soon as I walked in Prince jumped up, crawling all over the cage desperate to get out and as I put my hand in the cage he clambered up onto it and perched there crying his little head off.

Me and Ross decided we couldn't get a kitten, we had just moved into a new house (that doesn't allow pets) but as soon as we got back home and sat on the sofa we both looked at each other with sad faces and decided we just couldn't leave him alone there in that tiny metal cage!

We named him Prince after our favourite musician, we gave him a purple velvet collar with THE Prince symbol hanging from it and his sassy little nature definitely lives upto his name. Ross even bought him a replicate Prince guitar big enough for him to hold (see below for the ridiculous picture).

It was love, he knew I was his Mummy and still does, he is like my little shadow! Every morning his smudges his head all over mine to get me up, he sits on my lap for afternoon cuddles when I get home from work and sleeps on a bunch of blankets on my floor next to my side of the bed.

So here are pictures of my baby boy Prince on his 1st birthday. Starting at day one onto the latest pic of him:

Ain't he handsome?!

Sorry for the picture heavy post but I couldn't narrow down my faves!
Hope you have a great weekend!

The Craft Box Company - A Craft Box Review.

I have another craft kit for you to read about today! You may remember my last craft kit review, well here is a new one - a bit of a different concept.

The Craft Box Company specialize in single craft boxes - which make for awesome gifts as well as fun little projects. I was kindly sent the Pearl Earring Box to review - I have my ears pierced 3 times each side but when I was younger put them big old holes in 4 of them so now I only have room for 2 earrings and they happen to be on the same side :/

Anyway here is my review of the box:

Pearl Earring Box - The Craft Box Company
Priced at £3.50.
The kit contains:

Pliers.
2 x Pearls
2 x Jewellery Pins
2 x Earring Wires
2 x Jump Rings
Instructions.

I found that because the kit comes with the plier its is super easy and the instructions are super clear and very simple to follow. My only problem with the box was it was super fiddly - trying to connect the two little hoops together was a bloody nightmare for me! Anyway here is the finished product:

To the untrained eye it looks fine, but tbh I could have done way better if I didn't get myself into difficulty!

As you can see the earring was then battered about by Prince.

Have you ever tried a craft box? How did you get on?
