Some of you may remember this post I did on the Topshop Lip Marker - well it turns out it wasn't as great as I had hoped, within 2 weeks it was really dried out.
Then I heard that Maxfactor was bringing out a whole range of lip tinting pens I thought I'd give the whole 'drawing on your lips with a felt tip' fad another go!
This time I waited until a month after I bought it to review it so here it is:
There are 6 different shades, I picked up the most 'red' one named 'Royal Plum'. £5.99 Superdrug. |
1st one is what I could get out of the Topshop lip pen. 2nd is the Maxfactor. |
Maxfactor on. It also lasts a long time - it's not fully waterproof but it dries fast and lasts a long time. |
It is definitely better (and cheaper) than the Topshop one, it's easier to apply and also you don't need to keep going over it. It's been a month now and it hasn't dried up at all which is great. Probably not ideal for a night out but definitely great for daytime/work/uni/whatever.
Hope you all had a great weekend! Anybody watching the Oscars tonight? I will be staying up late watching a live-stream.
X
I saw this in boots today and was so tempted to buy it! now i've seen this review i think i defiantly will!! It looks really really good xo
ReplyDeleteI love the felt tip thing as it seems so much easier, I'm crap with lipstick, I hate it when it's too wet as I always forget I'm wearing it and smudge it - probably my fault for constantly grazing on food...
ReplyDeleteI so want to watch the Oscars but will definitely fall asleep, instead I'll just slag off the dresses tomorrow.
Penny x
Really gorgeous colour on you x
ReplyDeleteBum. I bought the Topshop Lip Stainer as well (after reading your post on it) Only really used it for the first time yesterday, it's SO hard to get an even colour! Definitely want to try these max factor ones! x
ReplyDeletePS i want a make up/tool box! Where is it from?x
it looks better on than i thought it would, but it still doesnt appeal to me. Maybe its just the idea of it being a pen? x
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to get myself a make-up box like that!
ReplyDeleteyour makeup box looks f'n amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI am really tempted by this - I already use the lipfinity combo for my 'grown up' makeup and am a big fan, but I much prefer a tint (I use Benetint, but two or three layers) for normal times.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be buying one of these!
p.s. I have the same make-up box in fuchsia pink. It is ace.
Love your make up box, all mine is crammed into a drawer. I need a good sort out x
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice colour! I've always been curious about the felt tip pen style lip colours so I think I'll give it a try, I've got some Boots points to use up anyway! I bought one of those lip colours from ELF where you twist the tube and it comes out of the sponge at the top (how crap is my description?!) and it's actually quite good - more like a gloss than a lipstick though. x
ReplyDeleteOooh I love this, the colour looks really intense! I love your makeup box too, mine's all stuffed in a little vanity case from Primark. :/ x
ReplyDeleteWhy would it not be good for a night out but is great for during the day? Maybe this is a silly question!
ReplyDeleteI think I need one of these! Well, I don't NEED it, I just want one! It looks gorgeous on you x
ReplyDeleteRed lips suit you so well, this looks lovely. xx
ReplyDeleteI love these Max Factor Lip Tints, I swear by them now. Much quicker and easier to use than the liquid lip tints, I end up getting them EVERYWHERE! x
ReplyDeleteBeen waiting for a helpful review of this for a while! Love the colour you got out of it, will definitely have to give it a go :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat colour is gorgeous on you! I love it, may have to try it for myself xo
ReplyDeleteOh yay, was thinking today I should have popped into Boots to have a test of one of these. I'm rubbish with lipstick and tinted balms or polishes never seem to last half an hour cus I'm constantly feeding food in my mouth! Looks great so will have to try!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like it would be weird "drawing" on your lips! I feel like I need to try one out!
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely colour, wish i could rock red lips like you do xx
ReplyDeleteoooh i've stared at this a few times but haven't plucked up the courage to try it. may have to give it a go now! glad i didn't bother with the topshop one now :/ rubbish! xo

oh wow it looks brilliant. i always think the whole felt tip pen idea is a bit strange, but it works wonders i guess! i didn't have high hopes for topshop make up, i'll be honest.

I have been umming and aarring whether to try this lip pen, but now I'm going to go straight ahead and buy it. I was going to buy the nude shade, but the colour your wearing is just so beautiful I think I have changed my mind!
ReplyDeleteI swear I will get the one I want in the end haha,oh glad to read about the Topshop one was thinking of going for that instead. You have the most amazing pout !! Pout perfection, and I think if I they don't have the plum colour I will just try whatever superdrug has as I really want to try it. Thanks for the review kitten xxx
ReplyDeletethat colour looks amazing on you! and no, i won't be staying up to watch the oscars because i fall asleep too easily! need my 7 hours sleeps every night haha. will catch up on the red carpet dresses tomorrow though.

ReplyDeleteI also need to get me a box like for make up!

I saw it, but the reviews on it seem to be generally quite bad, i guess for the prices it an ok product, it rather use a lip pencil and illamasqua's opaque lip gloss.. (my new fav combo)

ReplyDeleteThis looks gorgeous on you. I love the idea of lipstick in a pen, sounds like it'd be fun to apply!
ReplyDeleteI usually stay up for the oscars but this year I have far too much college work to do tomorrow morning so am going to be sensible and go to sleep :( x
Ooh intriguing, I have a covergirl lip marker that I love and fear the day it'll finally run out. These look great, super storng! :o
ReplyDeleteLoving the case, that's the kind I used when I first started out as an mua..sadly I now have to use a suitcase.
It looks great- I love a bright red like that, and it just looks flawless! x
