GHD Platinum - Launch and Styling Event.

ghd event

Hello!

Last week I went to the launch of the new GHD Platinum hair styler to test out the goods and get a tutorial n how to use it and why it beats out the competition.

ghd platinum launch event

Curling my hair with straighteners has never ever been my strong point but the lovely ghd team showed us just how to perfect any kind of curl and also hit us up with the most important tip for getting those beach babe waves - brush it out!

The new ghd Platinum straightener is also brilliant for straightening too, it pushes down each 'folical' (read: split end) to create a totally smooth and flawless look.

We were let loose on the new Platinums to get styling our own hair to see just how easy they were to use. The best thing about them is that they have Trizone technology, which is 6 separate heat plates which gives a total consistency of heat over the hair. This helps reduce hair breakage by 50% and also increases shine by 20% compared to other tools that heat to 230 degrees.
The Platinum also has a heat resistant plate (using NASA technology) which means you can touch them from the outside without feeling a thing!

As you can see the results are awesome, the trick to curling hair is to NOT look at yourself in the mirror and just go for it! I actually got my pal above Charli to do mine and I was feeling a little ill and couldn't function.

I loved the beach waves I left with and they didn't even take any length off my hair at all!

Thanks to GHD for putting on a wonderful event,

The Platinum retails at £165 and is definitely a sound investment!

What straighteners do you use?

Kamigata Birthday and Vivienne Westwood AW 14.

Last week Cardiff's most fabulous Aveda hair salon, Kamigata, celebrated their 4th Birthday - and they celebrated in style!

The Birthday party, which was inside the salon on the ground floor of St.Davids, was open to their nearest and dearest clients as a thankyou for their love and support since their opening in 2010. There was champagne flowing and even their very own cocktail made for the evening to coincide with their next-door neighbours Vivienne Westwood's A/W '14 lookbook.

The salon had models dotted around showing off the high-fashions of VivienneWestwood's A/W '14 lookbook, music was pumping and the atomosphere was incredible.

Aswell as all of this excitement there were also complimentary hand and arm massages, OPI nail painting, Aveda Chakra rituals and Reiki being performed for guests.

Lucky for me lots of my pals were actually at the event and one (pictured above) even worked it!

At the end of the evening was a raffle draw to win Aveda, GHD (which the gorgeous Beth won!) and Vivienne Westwood goodies - lucky little me won an Aveda Stress Fix kit worth upto £70!

This was definitely one of the best event of the year!

Swatch - A/W Event.

Hello!

I had taken a short step away from the ol' blog due to feeling uninspired and too much like a little fish in a massive pond. We will see.

Anyway last week I headed over to to Swatch store in Cardiff to have a look around at their new self-winding collection and some of the new A/W collection in store. I've never owned a Swatch before but always dreamed of it, I only have 2 Casio's and am never without a watch (tan lines don't lie).

In particular I actually loved the kids watches - Hello Kitty, Cats and Dolphins - dream. But for being a grown up I loved the pink glitter double wraps and also the bright colour double wraps too! I only have tiny little wrists so a small watch is a must. But my favourite by far was the pictured Strawberry Swatch.

Watch prices are the only thing that scare me, plastic watches for £40 do trouble me but I'm not one to splash out on lavish things these days (since you know bills and rent while working for minimum wage come into my mind). But these are worth the dollar as alot of heart and Swiss soul get put into each one :)

We had bubbles and mini-cakes which was very nice indeed!
I'm off home this weekend, can't wait Cardiff is doing my head in!

Take care

Paul Mitchell Fabulous in Five event.

Hello!

I'm back from Devon after a lovely time, I've got some exciting posts coming up from my mini-holiday which I can't wait to share!

Today I want to tell you about the amazing Paul Mitchell hair event I went to last Weds. I was back to the St. Davids hotel in a suite with about 6 other blogger ladies (which by the way was SO great having such a small group, I got to speak to everyone individually and we all got to sit around with the Paul Mitchell gang for gossips and beauty chats). Greeted with champagne and canapes, we talked about some great Paul Mitchell Summer products and how to look fabulous in 5.

In the bedroom were the 2 fabulous hair stylists from a Welsh salon who gave my beach babin' curls and taught me how to use some of the products.

The team used the NeuroUnclipped 1.25" on my hair.

These tools were amazzzing! I didn't quite get all the names but I know these tools are made usng IsoThern Titanium which gives you even heat, does minimal damage to hair and also has a micro-chip that regulates the head 50times a second! Crazy! I can't wait to play with my own ;)

I forgot to take pictures of the amazing care package we were given so here is a picture of my new house plant: but it was basically all the products we got to play about with and more in a cool tote! I stupidly left half of mine in Devon so will have to wait a while to see them again!

P.S - Did you know Paul Mitchell do a pet care range?! Need to try that on Prince.

I loved learning all about Paul Mitchell and how they are BUAV approved and put money into stopping the animal testing in China - AWESOME!

Hope you are having a great week? I've been to Drag Bingo this week, it was grand!

Vanity Rooms and Spa Cardiff

On Monday I was invited along to the Vanity Rooms & Spa in Rhiwbina village in Cardiff.
I had heard of it before but as I live so close to town the last time I had ventured up that way was a loong time ago so hadn't actually been up to see it yet. It's the 3rd Aveda salon in Cardiff and the 2nd Aveda spa here too!

Gorgeous flowers were provided by Flower Lodge.
As soon as I got there I was offered a drink and then was whisked off to the spa treatment room for an Aveda Facial. The room smelt all spa-like and amazing and was candle-lit which set me off to relax right away.

As its so hot at the moment my skins been pretty oily so the wonderful Charlotte applied the Aveda tourmaline charged radiance masque on me and left me to relax for 5 minutes. I was also treated to a couple Aveda rituals such a hand massage and an awaking after the facial was over.

My skin felt so refreshed and amazing afterwards but I did look a bit look like I had just woke up so I was given a mini-makeover using the Aveda make-up range. The tinted moisturizer was amazing and I was given a little glow with the blush.

After my facial I was treated to Gelish nails which was great as mine from the Superdrug Event had just came off! I chose black:

I felt so welcomed and at home in Vanity Rooms and I am desperate to go and get my hair done there (I have some money off vouchers too for my first visit!) I was offered a blow-dry at the event but I was headed to the gym after so there was little-to-no point! I saw some other girls getting their hair done though and it looked amazing (something I'm yet to find in Cardiff - a good hairdresser!).

If you are local I highly recommend popping down and you can check out their twitter for the latest deals and treatments available.

I'm off down to Devon as of tomorrow for a week relaxing! But will have a little post up with a special interview this week ;)

Superdrug Beauty Studio Cardiff

Hello and Happy Friday!

I'm a tad hungover today as last night was the UK launch of Superdrugs new store - Beauty Studio!
Cardiff was luck enough to be the first and only store in the UK to have the beauty studio which has exclusive brands and products.

The whole store was so shiny, new and neon and just amazing! I can't say enough how much of a great store it is and how Superdrug has basically knocked the competition out of the park.

As well as (lots) of bubbly there was also their services on offer for us, so basically you can go and get ALL of this stuff done at the store!

There was gel manicures, eyebrow threading, Eyelure eyelash bar, ear piercing, curling and hair straightening stations and also the best of all - A FULL ON SALON! You can get your hair cut and blow dried inside the store!

There were stands from Superdrugs' own brand GOSH and B. (which is vegan) but also some new brands such as I Heart Make-up, The Balm and Make-up Revolution (who I am desperate to try out more things from!). I spent quite a bit of money but was however kindly gifted a £25 giftcard to help me pay towards it!

After the event I hopped in a taxi with a handful of Superdrugs head crew from London and some journalists and we went over to the St.Davids Hotel for an amazing meal, more bubbles and also some naughty shots. If you wanna see a Welsh Dragon shaped pie then head to my instagram HERE - it was delish!

After our meal I was whizzed back down to town for an after-party in Peppermint for a free bar, some dancing and no a very sore head!

Thankyou SO much to the amazing PR team and all the Superdrug family who made me feel so welcome and gave me such a blast of an evening!

The Beauty Studio is now open in Cardiff St. Davids Center and is well worth a long browse!

The Way of Wagamama.

Wagamamas do the BEST events. I've been to 2 other events at Wagagmamas and despite being a massive fan of theirs - this 3rd one has to be their best yet!

A very tiny group of 6 of us were invited to come and meet with their Executive Chef Steve and taste expert Christy Fergusson (of Channel 4 fame!) while we discuss our eating habits and try branching out of our comfort zones and trying different dishes.
The reason why I say branching out as I'm sure any of you Wagaz regulars will know, most of us find our fave dish on the menu and stick with it - we go to Wagamamas to have THAT dish. I always get the Chicken Ramen (sometimes if I'm feeling crazy I'll go for the Chicken Katsu) and this event was set out to help me discover similar dishes on the menu.

It all kicked off with wine:

The first dish Steve handed to me was the Chicken Itame. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to curry based food however this was way too fragrant for me and the chilies in it made it too spicy. But I do love soupy dishes with meat and veg!

Next up was the winner! Hitting the nail on the head by steering me away from noodles but still giving me a soupy, soy based dish was the Chicken Tama rice. I loved all the greens, the sticky rice and the soup that got soaked up into it - I will definitely be ordering this one!

Steve had one more trick up his sleeve, he decided to go off the menu and create a special dessert for us Cardiff ladies: Katsu Curry Ice Cream!
It was crazy my brain was telling me this wasn't right - hot Katsu curry sauce over cool coconut ice cream BUT my mouth was loving it! I hope the experiment with this a bit more and get it out there for more people to try!

Since the introduction of the new placemats more people are trying new things which is awesome! The whole point of the campaign is to get people to steer away from their usual and to try something else. Some of the names are a bit wild and hard to say so with the placemats actually getting to see each ingredient in the dish is one great way of getting people to branch out.

Are you a Wagamama fan and do you stick to the same thing? I really recommend taking a closer look at the menu - don't forget everything is cooked FRESH so if there is one ingredient you want to swap it can be done! :)

The White Company Opening Event in Cardiff

Last week I was kindly invited to the opening of The White Company store in Cardiff. I met up with Jess, Eve Charli and Josh for pre-event cocktails followed by free champagne and then more cocktails. Oh dear!

I'd never shopped at The White Company before, it was super expensive but really high quality. I fell in love with the slippers and dressing gowns - they were SO furry and soft! I also loved the kids range, I was sad to leave behind a cuddly little teddy bunny wah!
The candles smelt amazing and I was super lucky to get a 'Seychelles' scented candle in a goodie bag (yay!) it's really nice and is all handmade in Devon - woop woop for mah hometown!

We also met the CEO of the company, had canape's from Jamies Italian and there was a live band (they did play the song at the end of Titanic when it sinks though, which was a downer).

Anyway here are some snaps from the opening:

Kicking off with Cocktails!

There was an event at Benefit afterwards but I got too drunk and forgot to take pictures of anything except the above "rocktails" that we all added alcohol too - oops!

Have you ever been to a White Company store? Everything is so...WHITE!

Lush Cardiff Event.

This week I was lucky enough to be invited to the Cardiff Lush store's blogger event!

We had healthy drinks, sin consultations and arm massages. We got to learn so much about all the products and got chat one on one with the lovely ladies from the store about which products are best for our skin types.

My favourite part was learning about the make-up range, Emotional Brilliance. The colours are amazing and they are designed for specifics (lipsticks, blush, etc...) however you can use them for anything!

We were lucky enough to try a few samples and take home our own Angels on Bareskin cleanser.  I also bought a few treats too ;)

Rose Water and Soda.
Skin consultations.
My fave colours from the colour mood wheel.
You can even use them on hair...
...YAY!

It was an awesome evening - thankyou to the lovely Lush ladies of Cardiff for making it so awesome!
