Winter Skin Saviours

This is a piece I wrote for the St.Davids Cardiff blog in which I am the resident Beauty and Lifestyle blogger. I thought I'd share it over here too for those who aren't from Cardiff too!

January is the coldest month of the year and this plays havoc with our skin.

Today I am sharing with you the best of the best to help you get a great Winter skin routine underway for face, hands and body. These products are little miracle workers that will keep your skin hydrated during these frosty mornings and dark nights and keep you looking and feeling great during the January blues.

The Body Shop - Drops of Youth Sleeping Mask.
This is brand new from The Body Shop, it's a light face mask to be kept on overnight using memory shape texture to replenish your skin and get it looking bouncy for the morning.
Crabtree & Evelyn - Pomegranate Hand Therapy.
These Crabtree hand lotions are incredibly hydrating, quick to absorb and smell amazing! This is my personal favourite scent however there are SO many to chose from it's best to pop in and smell for yourself.
L'Occitane - Shea Light Comforting Cream
Brand new from L'Occitane, this incredibly hydrating face cream is made with 5% Shea butter, it great for sensitive skin and lasts upto 48 hours!
Jo Malone - Pomegrante Noir Body Creme.
This is the ultimate in luxury skin care. This incredibly rich cocoa based body creme will keep your skin smooth and soft and is perfect after a hot soak in the tub. Again this scent is my absolute favourite however there are many to choose from, Jo Malone have incredible staff who will help you find your signature scent.
Lip Conditioner - MAC Cosmetics.
This is the Queen of keeping your lips hydrated and a little goes a long, long way! I've used this since I was a teenager and never fail to go back to it everytime. Using Almond oil, shea butter and Avacado extract this repairs and seals your lips with the moisture it needs.

These incredible products are sure to see you through these cold months keeping your skin hydrated day-to-night!

Paul Mitchell Fabulous in Five event.

Hello!

I'm back from Devon after a lovely time, I've got some exciting posts coming up from my mini-holiday which I can't wait to share!

Today I want to tell you about the amazing Paul Mitchell hair event I went to last Weds. I was back to the St. Davids hotel in a suite with about 6 other blogger ladies (which by the way was SO great having such a small group, I got to speak to everyone individually and we all got to sit around with the Paul Mitchell gang for gossips and beauty chats). Greeted with champagne and canapes, we talked about some great Paul Mitchell Summer products and how to look fabulous in 5.

In the bedroom were the 2 fabulous hair stylists from a Welsh salon who gave my beach babin' curls and taught me how to use some of the products.

The team used the NeuroUnclipped 1.25" on my hair.

These tools were amazzzing! I didn't quite get all the names but I know these tools are made usng IsoThern Titanium which gives you even heat, does minimal damage to hair and also has a micro-chip that regulates the head 50times a second! Crazy! I can't wait to play with my own ;)

I forgot to take pictures of the amazing care package we were given so here is a picture of my new house plant: but it was basically all the products we got to play about with and more in a cool tote! I stupidly left half of mine in Devon so will have to wait a while to see them again!

P.S - Did you know Paul Mitchell do a pet care range?! Need to try that on Prince.

I loved learning all about Paul Mitchell and how they are BUAV approved and put money into stopping the animal testing in China - AWESOME!

Hope you are having a great week? I've been to Drag Bingo this week, it was grand!

St.Davids Hotel Spa.

Last Sunday I had a belated Birthday gift from my mum in the form of a spa day at the fabulous St.Davids Hotel in Cardiff Bay.
I've been to the hotel before during the Next Homeware event which was amazing so I was super excited to get to the spa!

As soon as we arrived I went in for my treatment - a 55-minute full body massage. It was heaven! Having a massage is great but my fave place is my legs as I'm stood up at work all day - those bad boys ache! I could easily get a massage every week but the cost of that would be insane so I was so excited for this.

The relaxing treatment room.
After being so relaxed it was time to hit the spa. The spa has often been awarded a top 5 position in the UK's top spas so I was really looking forward to get in. First stop was the huge jacuzzi which had underwater-beds. There was also a hydro-therapy area, a sauna room (with hot coals) and a swimming pool. My only complaint was that the swimming pool was way to cold for me so I couldn't really swim and enjoy it without dreaming of running straight to the sauna.

It was such a sunny day considering all the bad weather we have had.
This is the view of the bay.
Part of the deal we took up was you also get afternoon tea. I've never had an afternoon tea before and the little sandwiches, cakes and scones were so tasty and we also had a selection of tea's to choose from.

I had such a nice, relaxing day. I totally recommend the St.Davids Hotel Spa for a great day of relaxation.

Cardiff Tiger.

I'd never heard of Tiger stores before I saw them landing in St.Davids Center in Cardiff. As the *ahem* resident beauty and lifestyle blogger for St.Davids, I was excited to be given a little bag of treats from Tiger to try-out and give my opinion on!

Tiger dead sea hand foot cream review
Dead Sea Hand + Foot Cream - £4 each.
These are super light creams that rub in easily for some super soft skin! They aren't perfumed either and are packed with goodness.
Tiger Nail Polish
Nail Polish - £1.
Tiger Nail Polish swatch
Its such a pretty colour! It's glittery but without actual chunky glitter in it (and we all know what a pain in the backside that is to get off!). Tiger also have a bunch of other make-up that I'm dying to have a go at!
duck head mount decoration
Duck Head Mount - £4.
I had this on my bathroom door and loved it until this weekend where it met it's untimely demise and smashed into a thousand pieces after a over-zealous door shut :(
I also have a Dead Sea Black Mud Body Wrap that I cannot wait to try!

They also have this cuuuute washi tape that I'm dreaming of.

Had you heard of Tiger?

D.I.Y Pressed Flower Sunglasses + Exciting News!

I'm going to sound like a total Granny but one of my fave things to do is press flowers! I have a scrap book with loads of different pressed beauties in that I'll probably share it with you soon.

There are loads of different crafts you can do with pressed flowers but I thought I'd spice it up from your usual photo-frames and trinket boxes and add some pretty, pink, pressed flowers to an old pair of sunglasses:

What You Need:
Sunnies (obvs!) - These are from ASOS about 3 years ago.
Clear drying craft glue
Masking tape (I used Washi Tape) to cover the frames
Small brush...
...And some tiny pressed flowers.
I pressed these for about 2 weeks they were so small they dried super fast, I did it in a actualy flower press as they were small but normally I would use the heavy book and kitchen roll method.
First up add a thin layer of glue to the corners where you wanna put the flowers.
Then I used the tip of my finger to just gently drop the flowers on.
I then added some more, plus a tiny leaf that was part of the bunch, to the sides.
The wait for the first layer of glue to dry and add two more layers to keep the flowers safe and push down and sticking-up bits.
The repeat on the other side!
The finished product!
What do you think?

In other great news I FINALLY get to announce that I am the now blogger in residence for beauty and lifestyle for St.Davids Center Cardiff - you can see more updates about this if you follow their twitter - @StDavidsCardiff. I'm super excited to be working with such a great team and writing about exciting things in my City!

Hope your week is going swimmingly.
