Cardiff Winter Wonderland + Vlog

cardiff winter wonderland

Last week me and Ross head on over to Cardiff's Winter Wonderland for a spot of ice skating as part of Simplyhealth's Healthy Habits campaign which is encouraging leading a healthier lifestyle including exercise.

Lucky for us the weather was perfect, it was freezing and dry which mean't first we had to go a get a warm up...

Bratwurst - literally one of my fave foods! Whoever invented sausage in a bun needs a medal.

Bavarian Bar and Food Stall.

We headed right to the Bavarian Bar for my absolute favourite Winter tipple - Bailey's hot chocolate! As well as that it was 8pm and we hadn't eaten since about 2pm so we were ready to gob down a delicious Bratwurst from the food stalls.

The we walked up through town to Winter Wonderland to have a mooch, grab another festive drink and then get ready to hit the ice.

cardiff sky swing

I did not fancy the Sky Swing which coincidentally has been all over the news this week as a gust of wind blew one carriage into another IN MID AIR! It looks so scary, here is the Sky Swing news article, the ride has been closed again for a few days this week due to high-winds. Not for me, ta!

hot winter drinks
I love these bi-lingual mugs!

We decided on another drink, Ross went for a 'Flirt' a.k.a Mulled wine with an Ameretto shot and I went for a 'Heidi' which was hot Raspberry wine with a Cherry liqueur shot. It was really nice but so strong and boozy! No wonder it's only in a tiny mug, you only need to sip it slow!

cardiff winter wonderland ice rink

We were given the late-night 9pm ice skating slot, I hadn't been skating for a good 6 years so I was pretty nervous, as I held on to the side Ross deicded he was off and ready to do a lap on his own. We were the first ones on the ice rink and I turned around to look at him and BOOM he was on his arse in the ice hahah! I didn't slip up once and managed to get confident enough to be able to lap around twice without holding on once :D

German Band

Cardiff's FM were blasting music and there was even a Bavarian band who played (see my video below to hear!).

I had such a fun time and I've been in such a festive mood since, take a look at my video below for our little trip on film.

Have you been to any Winter Wonderlands this year?

Otter and Butterfly Sanctuary Visit Part 1

Hiya!

A couple weeks ago I visited the Otter and Butterfly sanctuary in Buckfastleigh, Devon. Today I am going to focus on the Butterflies and I have to say it was one of the best experiences for me as you get to walk into a HUGEE greenhouse filled with exotic butterflies and moths.

The house is really warm and filled with plants and flowers for the butterflies and moths to thrive, live and breed just as they would in the wild. You obviously can't touch them as that would be bad for them but they do land on you and you can get up close to them.

You can also see them before they are butterflies in form of caterpillars and larvae. There is also hundred of cocoons of all sizes hanging from trees getting ready to birth a beautiful butterfly or moth :)

Inside the Butterfly house there is also a huge lake for Terrapins and massive Koi carp.

I had the best time, I love being able to be so close and interactive with animals so this was a wonderful experience. I can't wait to show you the Otters too, they were so funny and crazy!

In other news I've changed my domain! I am offically a .com now - www.cowbiscuits.com (and I'm working on .co.uk as I'm a bit rubbish at using the internet)

Bug Watching - outfitpost.

These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago on a walk around a reservoir just near the Brecon Beacons. It was such a sunny day although there was a chill in the air.

I actually had a little bird drama myself last night, if you follow me on Twitter then you will have followed it but for those who don't: Prince bought a baby pigeon into the house injured but not dead, I feared the worst for it however after some care and attention I managed to get it to a vet who said he has no serious injuries and will be able to go to a bird shelter this weekend for extra bird care and will be released in the next week. I was so happy and relieved that he was able to get some pain relief and some real treatment rather than suffer.

Mandala Print - outfit post.

The Past couple of weekends the weather has been so glorious here in Wales!

This outfit I wore out to Southern Down and Ogmore beaches during a little advenute in the sunshine. I wore a jacket but I had to take it off as it was super warm in the sun. We ended up in a beer garden and had a pub Sunday roast with a cider - it was lovely!

Castell Coch Adventure Trip!

Last week after work me and Ross headed over to Castell Coch just outside of Cardiff. I usually go up here in the dark as the walk up is windy, covered in trees and SUPER scary! But this time I thought I'd go when the Castle was open so I could see inside.

Castell Coch.
Pretending I was the bad-ass Queen from Game of Thrones.
The Kitchen
This room had the most amazing decoration, it was based on Aesop's fabels and was just stunning.
Lady Bute's bedroom.
The Chapel.
View from the Chapel.

It was so pretty, I literally spent the whole time walking around pretending I was in Game of Thrones (by the way the latest episode - OH WHAT?!) - it was marvelous! The whole place was decorated amazingly with Aesop's fables, the Three Fates and lots of astrology. It was knocked down way back when and re-built again in the 1800's and was home to Lord and Lady Bute.

In the gift shop I met an awesome man who worked there with a super knackered/awesome AC/DC tattoo on his arm who talked to me about how he wears legit chain mail and how heavy it is. I bought a Celtic Mood-Ring and a faux chain-mail helmet.

I definitely can't wait to explore some more of Wales' amazing castles this Summer!

When The Snow Hits.

As it's very apparent, most of the UK was hit by blizzards this Friday, and South-Wales was put in the 'red zone' which mean't we were getting alot coming our way! My boyfriend's family live in the Valleys where we were visiting when the snow hit and it ended up being one of the worst hit areas.

I LOVE snow so this only meant adventure to me, off we went three separate times during the day for hours of snow fun:

My favourite thing to do was shake the branches and pour snow all over myself and watch as the branch shot back up into the air after being weighed down by the thick snow.
Worlds worst attempt at a snow man.
War Memorial.

When I finally managed to drive back to Cardiff I couldn't wait to see my little kitty Prince!

We got Prince in October and he is now 5 months old, I will be doing a little post on him next with kitten and now big kitty pictures :)

Prince with his lead on experiencing snow for the first time! He was super cold but didn't want to go indoors.
Were you hit by heavy snow where you live? I know it's a total nightmare but it's so pretty before everything turns to ice and gross slush.

I hope you are having a good weekend!

There We Were, Now Here We Are - outfit post.

Here we go, my first proper blog post for almost a year!

I've missed it alot and I know getting back into it won't be easy but I've spent a long time planning posts to keep a steady pace. I've still got a little bit of work to do, for example I really want to change my layout but I'm totally useless at technology (any pointers would be very much appreciated!).

Living in Cardiff now means I am surrounded by beautiful places to visit and go on long walks, I could walk around looking at nature and exploring for hours and hours. Also they make for interesting outfit post pictures, so here it goes...

Gethin Woods - Currently in the process of having a make-over for mountain bike trails so it's super peaceful.

Hat & Bag - H&M
Dress - Topshop
Parka - ASOS
Shoes - River Island.

My mum bought me this parka from ASOS for Christmas. I've never been so in love with a coat!
It has a detachable hood and fleece lining so it's good for all year round. Well done mum!

There are so many little streams all over the woodland, its super pretty even in Winter.

Writing our initials in the sludge. Very romantic :p.

Small Gold Orb Necklace - Vivienne Westwood.
Black Diamond Skull Necklace - Vivienne Westwood.

Thanks to anybody who still may be reading,  I can't wait to have a massive read of all my fave blogs too!

Hope you have a wonderful start to the week.
