Prince: a Tribute.

On Thursday evening I came home from work and did my usual routine, fed the cats, got changed then sat while they fussed over me and scrolled through social media. Somebody had posted a picture of Prince on Instagram and i instantly liked it... then I saw the caption was of a broken heart. I was confused, obviously checked Twitter (the hub of breaking news) and saw the rumours that there had been a death at Paisley Park.

I became panicked but also they were just rumours right now. The rumours, within minutes, became reality and it was confirmed the death at Paisley Park was Prince himself.

I sat on the floor in my spare room under the window, I was in shock. I started to say aloud things like 'no' and 'oh God!' and then my hands began to tremble and heart began to hurt. The tears started small but grew into hysteria. I text my mum, she was also a big fan, and she knew exactly how I was feeling, her idol Marc Bolan died suddenly when she was a teenager and her heart broke just like mine.

I sat there still or about an hour, an influx of messages from friends who knew how I'd be feeling came through but replying was hard. I eventually went downstairs and put CNN news on the TV and watched as people were interviewed who knew him and fans who had flooded to Paisley Park to see what was going on. Songs played in intervals but I was sat in silence as I just watched, my hands still shaking.

I managed to eat about 8pm, I made some chips and dipped them in Hummus. Comfort food. About 9pm I sat in candlelight and put the radio on, the Radio 1XTRA DJ was playing non-stop Prince and after a few slow ones he played some hits and favourites. I noticed that I was bouncing about in my seat and even smiling as I sang my heart out. THIS is what Princes music was to me, it made me feel happiness like no other music has done.

A celebrity death has never affected me like this. Obviously I feel sad, earlier that day I found out that Chyna from WWF wrestling back in the days where I was obsessed with it has died and I was sad, I felt sadness. I cried when Whitney Houston died. But this was another level of sadness - this was heartbreak. Thankfully the next day I didn't have work, I mourned all day. I stayed in bed until about 5pm and then I cooked. As I cooked I decided to blast some Prince tunes to get that happy feeling back and it worked as it always had done before.

When I got a little 8-week old kitten there was only one name he had to have - Prince. In his namesake he always wears a purple velvet collar, he used to have a little Prince symbol dangling from it before he lost it in, and he has a tiny Cloud guitar which still sits on my bookshelf.

After a night watching Purple Rain with my old housemate, the next day he tattoo'd the Prince symbol (in purple of course) on my ankle.

In 2014 I got to see the man himself in concert. I skipped work in the afternoon and drove 2.5 hours to Birmingham. I wore a paisley dress and danced and sang until my throat didn't work. This video is the only video I took and it was almost at the end of the show, I didn't pay attention to taking photos of videos as I was too wrapped up in seeing this tiny man, dancing on stage like he was still 21, playing guitar and piano like a musical God, his vocals like a record, never missing a high note.

A mysterious genius, an icon of never being afraid to be nothing but himself whenever and however he wanted without care of what anybody else thought, so sadly died at 57.

My heart is still heavy but everytime I put on any number of my favourite songs by him I feel my heart lift slightly and I can't help but feel happiness.

Sleep well Beautiful One.

The cake came in its own tin on a proper cake base which is sealed so it's super fresh. I loved the novelty of opening the tin and seeing my Prince's little head on a cake! You can get any message you want on there too!

The actual cake itself is incredibly soft, has a lovely sweet icing that isn't too thick on top with a thin layer of butter icing too.

This is such a cute gift idea and I've kept the tin too just because it's so cute!

Now, as promised, you can win your very own Easter letter box cake!

Cat Tipi - DIY

Hello!

This Saturday my baby boy Prince turned 2! You can see my post from his 1st Birthday HERE where I tell the story of how I got him and his background. He's grown up alot since then but he is still a mummy's boy who comes for snuggles every morning.

I bought him a few new toys and a special cat-meal and some treats but for so long now I've wanted a Cat Tipi. On the site I've linking there they are pretty expensive for me to get shipped aswell as buying the product so I decided to build my own!

I used this awesome easy tutorial from Boat People Boutique to build my own Tipi for Prince:

uk diy blog

I used:

1 metre of fabric,
5 wooden sticks which were about 70 cm's,
Leather string,
1 safety pin
Feathers
and a cat pad that he likes to lay on for the base.

After cutting the fabric into a cape-shape (hey that rhymes) I had to tie 3 of the sticks like the above picture so that they stand upright like the below picture:

You then add two more sticks and tie them around the other sticks for them to stand like so:

I then draped the cut fabric around and safety pinned the fabric at the top where the two ends met.
I then tied the leftover leather around a couple feathers.

I then put the cat pad under the tipi so Prince now has his own little tent!

Prince loves his Tipi, he sleeps under it at night however on the first morning I walked in to see he had wriggled about so much that it had fallen on top of him but I think he enjoyed it being like a giant blanket :P

Hope you had a great weekend, I did an amazing, personal challenge and climbed a mountain! I will do a post on it very soon as the experience was incredible and super spiritual!

September Round-Up

Autumn is in full swing now and I love it!

Here is a roundup of my September and what's to come in October:

My boss-eyed buddy has been sitting in the bath with me again. I love his little face so much!
I love this ugly fish transfer tattoo (I almost wish he was real) which I was sent along with a few other cool designs from Fickle Tattoos.
A few new home additions.
The butterfly/moth ceramic coasters (I mentioned them here) from my Auntie, A cactus letter holder from my Mumma and a cute little trinket box c/o Casey English.
I re-did my pink and purple hair.
I was asked if I had any festive baking tips for Rodda's to feature on their packaging leading upto Christmas. I gave them a tip and they decided to use it! I got this amazing package as a thankyou and my tip is in-stores now! I really hope I find it on the shelves!
The pack included clotted cream and Cornish butter but obviously they went right to the fridge.
I got a pin-board for a bargainous £3 in WHSmiths. I added some mermaid looking sequins and some cute patterned fabric as a border to jolly it up a bit.
October is right here and it is my faveourite month! I will be decorating the house in a Halloween theme and also have lots of Halloween DIY's and outfit posts at the ready!

Hope September has been awesome for you!

Little Critters.

I thought I'd share with you a few little pals I've encountered in the past few weeks:
Little pal I found on a walk.
Big Ol' Toad who's been in my garden. I think he had a friend but he got eaten by a cat :S
I found two of these guys crawling up my wall, they are so softy!
Prince bought home this frog. I saved him bathed him and then let him go. He had a goo old swim about in my bath and you can see the video HERE
Sorry its such a short post I've been crazy busy - today I had a NARS make-over so I can't wait to show you all about that!

Have a good one!

Pink n' Purple Hair and Blue Tie-Dye Sweater - outfit post

I got bored with just having pink hair so added purple dip-dye on the bottom too. Although I'm kinda bored of having pink/purple hair it seems everybody has it these days - I'm thinking maybe a dirty blonde or go back to my old pearl blonde.
I'm also desperate for a hair-cut but I only have £4 to my name at the moment.

I got this blue tie-dye jumper from H&M last year. I love wearing a bodycon dress with a jumper over the top, it's basically all I wear come Winter!

Here it is - massively ripped tights an' all:

I love Prince so much! This weekend he bought home a dead crow and cut his foot - he is such a little trouble maker! Even though the picture is super out of focus (probably due to how smudgey my lens was) I just love any picture with him in :)

Hope you had a great weekend

August In Review

September is definitely my fave month, the tree's start turning, it gets a little colder but the sun shines on and Autumn kicks off.

Here is a re-cap of my August:

Space Girl Bath Bomb - LUSH £2.25
Moving into my new house mean't I had a bath that only me and Ross used and I decided to treat myself to my FIRST EVER Lush Bath Bomb (I know right!)
I had so much fun in purple, glittery water - I even made up a song and Prince joined me - see the video HERE.
Prince turned 1! The post for that is HERE, it's full of pictures and our little story. This is the latest picture I have of him.
Ross's Birthday.
We went for a meal in Chapel 1877. The food was great, we sat in what I can only describe as a confession booth.
DIY Pressed Flower Sunglasses.
I made a DIY for these cute little pressed flower sunnies, it's super easy to do and so personalised!
I went to see the band Merchandise. You can check them out HERE - they were rad.
My cactus collection grew.
I got these two awesome pin-badges for £1!
Well that was my highlights from August, so far September has treated me well with shopping and nature surprises which I will share with you as soon as :)

Hope you had a great August!

Garden Tour.

Howdy!

Today I thought I'd show you around my garden as you may have caught the sneak peak in my last outfit post :)

I really love our garden, there is SO much wildlife about! I used to be deathly afraid of spiders and bugs but I really don't know what has happened but I am actually embracing the amount of creepy crawlies that are living in our garden! I've also found 2 toads and got to pick one of them up. There are lots of cats, a dog that lives above us who plays outside and also squirrels!

Prince isn't allowed out without his harness for the first 2 weeks, ALL the cats keeps coming to the window to suss him out and he's going crazy!
We have 2 benches, a BBQ, washing line and a greenhouse! Plus 2 planters and 2 big spaces to grow flowers.
This leads down to the people above us' garden.
There is a tree fulled of pink and purple flowers that Bee's LOVE! They get super full and fall on the floor where they act all drowsy for a while then fly off :D

So that is out garden! I can't wait to share the rest of the house with you but it's taking longer than expected to find a home for everything we own! We are in desperate need of a tall (rather than wide) bookshelf but can't afford/find one that isn't one of those IKEA Billy ones :/ - do you have any ideas?

Hope you had a great 3-day weekend! I spent mine with friends and just chilling out on the sofa while Ross made us a roast dinner :D

Happy 1st Birthday Prince!

I got Prince in October last year, he was 8 weeks old and in a tiny pet shop down the road from me, owned by an old lady, sat in a teeny cage with 2 other kitties. The other two kittens were fast asleep but as soon as I walked in Prince jumped up, crawling all over the cage desperate to get out and as I put my hand in the cage he clambered up onto it and perched there crying his little head off.

Me and Ross decided we couldn't get a kitten, we had just moved into a new house (that doesn't allow pets) but as soon as we got back home and sat on the sofa we both looked at each other with sad faces and decided we just couldn't leave him alone there in that tiny metal cage!

We named him Prince after our favourite musician, we gave him a purple velvet collar with THE Prince symbol hanging from it and his sassy little nature definitely lives upto his name. Ross even bought him a replicate Prince guitar big enough for him to hold (see below for the ridiculous picture).

It was love, he knew I was his Mummy and still does, he is like my little shadow! Every morning his smudges his head all over mine to get me up, he sits on my lap for afternoon cuddles when I get home from work and sleeps on a bunch of blankets on my floor next to my side of the bed.

So here are pictures of my baby boy Prince on his 1st birthday. Starting at day one onto the latest pic of him:

Ain't he handsome?!

Sorry for the picture heavy post but I couldn't narrow down my faves!
Hope you have a great weekend!
