Wilfreds Lovely Welsh Bakes

I LOVE a pie! My mum makes an amazing pie and I'm always let down when I buy one from the supermarket and it just doesn't hit the spot.

Lewis Pies have released a new line of gourmet pies under the name Wilfreds. I was hand delivered  big ol' box of chilled pies ready for me to stick in my fridge and makes my way through (an easy challenge!).  The pies are made using top-of-the range Welsh specialty ingredients and have very Welsh based names.

So I got 6 pies:

The Saucy Cow - Welsh beef steak in local Gower Power Ale.
The Gower Cwtch - a Cwtch (ku-tch) is Welsh for a cuddle! This has Welsh beef steak, leeks and a hint of horseradish.
The Clucking Valleys - British chicken and veg in gravy.
The Lamb of my Fathers - Welsh lamb with mint, faggots and local laverbread.
The Steak & Tatws - Welsh beef steak with potatoes in gravy.
The Fiery Chick - British chicken, cajun spices and Colliers Welsh cheddar.

The packaging is gorgeous, it feels like you've just picked it up homemade from a market.

Now I have to be honest with you I did not eat the Lamb of my Fathers pie as I can't stand lamb! I did however eat the rest!

The pastry on all of the pies is hot water crust pastry and it is so light, buttery and soft and not at all flaky like most pies - so so good!

My fave was the Clucking Valleys - the chicken gravy was incredible!

The Fiery Chick definitely had a kick to it so if you like a bit of spice then this is the pie for you!

The beef is the 3 beef pies was lovely and tender with a thick gravy that wasn't stuck to the crust. my only complaint was the Steak & Tatws didn't have enough potato for me!!

All in all these pies are LUSH! The pastry was such a winner for me I don't think I can ever go back to a supermarket pie again!

Adventure Time at Dinas Rock.

The best thing about living in Wales is that I am surrounded by amazing and beautiful places to explore! There are so many nature reserves, mountains and walking trails, almost every weekend (weather permitted) I try to get out and find new places to go exploring and this weekend lead me to Neath-Port Talbot to Dinas Rock and Waterfall.

There are loads more waterfalls in this area too but we spent hours just walking up and around this one - at one point we were so high up it was getting cloudy! We saw a few other people there in proper hiking and climbing gear - even a dog in a little waterproof!

There are lots of caves around aswell that apparently King Arthur's knights lay in waiting to be called upon to battle.

Fade To Red - outfit post!

Oh hi there!
I'm back from my Devon break back home now after a lovely fews days of being very spoilt (I'll post some pics soon) I'm back in Cardiff :)

We had a super sunny day not long back so we decided to head over to St.Fagans which is home to the Welsh National History Museum. It was HUGE, a huge open-air museum with lots of buildings and gardens with exhibitions in - it was so cool and it was free!

I love this cute little sweater, part of the new S/S13 campaign from Even&Odd. You can check out some more cute items HERE.
Girl got the biggest booty.
This was the most clear shot I got of the back unfortunately. It's VERY open but I teamed it with a cute River Island bikini top - you can see it properly on THIS super old post where I look skinny (wah).
:)
We went upstairs in a super old tea-room, it was busy when we got there but I probably scared everyone off by how excited I was.
Cream-Tea!

Also when I went back home I bought a mini cross-stitch - OH HOW FUN! I loved it so much I've bought some more to do :D

Hope ya'll are doin good!

Country Gal - outfit post

Last weekend I hopped in my new car (I know I can't top talking about it!) and drove up towards the Brecon Beacons.

As it had been so cold I didn't fancy a massive trek so we ended up seeing an old Ice-Age mountain, we parked on the side of the road and walked up to the bottom of it. As we went up, it got colder and colder and my fingers went numb so we decided to save the big trek around it for a sunny day:

The back
I literally cannot see a better shirt out there for me! I am a Devonshire country gal, I love Country + Western music and the whole western style theme. I am so in love with it!
I had to take pictures of me looking like I was on the ranch ;p
Afterwards we went to Merthyr Tyfils' old iron work ruins, we climbed through creepy, dark tunnels and made our way out onto the roof. Spot Ross peeking through the trees :p
These icicles were hanging EVERYWHERE in the the Ironworks - had to keep dodging them to avoid being speared.

Cemetery Polka - outfit post.

I'm really missing the sunshine at the moment, there's been snow, hail and mental thunderstorms over here in Cardiff all in the past week which makes for going out for walks and trips a right pain!

Luckily there was a one day gap where the sun came out and the weather wasn't too bitter for a stroll around Cathays Cemetery. I've had a morbid curiosity since I was young but It's such a peaceful place to go for a walk, there are different sections (including a huge Victorian area) and it's one of the largest cemeteries in the UK.

River Island Glittery T-shirt.
Vivienne Westwood Orb necklace.
H&M Stag Head necklace.
H&M Studded bag
River Island sneaks.
Would totally put these mad spikes all around my grave site too.
My hair has been driving me crazy this week, I've resorted to keeping it up but I am definitely over due a chop in the next week or so!

What did you get upto on the weekend? Missing the sunshine yet?

When The Snow Hits.

As it's very apparent, most of the UK was hit by blizzards this Friday, and South-Wales was put in the 'red zone' which mean't we were getting alot coming our way! My boyfriend's family live in the Valleys where we were visiting when the snow hit and it ended up being one of the worst hit areas.

I LOVE snow so this only meant adventure to me, off we went three separate times during the day for hours of snow fun:

My favourite thing to do was shake the branches and pour snow all over myself and watch as the branch shot back up into the air after being weighed down by the thick snow.
Worlds worst attempt at a snow man.
War Memorial.

When I finally managed to drive back to Cardiff I couldn't wait to see my little kitty Prince!

We got Prince in October and he is now 5 months old, I will be doing a little post on him next with kitten and now big kitty pictures :)

Prince with his lead on experiencing snow for the first time! He was super cold but didn't want to go indoors.
Were you hit by heavy snow where you live? I know it's a total nightmare but it's so pretty before everything turns to ice and gross slush.

I hope you are having a good weekend!
